# sleep

The `sleep` step.

Pauses for a fixed number of milliseconds, at most `10000`. Lint warns `W003`; a `wait_for` condition is usually better.

Type: `integer`

Every step also takes the [common step keys](https://docs.kaab.ist/reference/dsl/steps#common-keys): `expect`, `id`, `if`, `name`, `on_error`, `optional`, `retry`, `side_effect`, `timeout_ms`, `x_kaab`.
